Toxoplasma Gondii is a parasite which can only survive in the intestines of cats. This means it wants to come back to its host for reproduction. When a cat excretes somewhere and say a mouse is infected with it, it plays with the hormones of the mouse and reduces its natural fear with the cats. As a result, the mouse will be attracted to or even attack a cat and become its prey. This way, the parasite can go back to the cat’s intestines, and a cycle is completed. So the question is: Is it okay to include the parasites while defining the sense of self? Do we have such parasites in ourselves which drives our behavior and instincts? Do we really like cats out of freewill or is it the game of parasites? The list could go on. This example brings our free will, volition, and even the sense of who we think we actually are into question !

Attached is the video showing a mouse infected with the parasite and its behavior towards a cat.

Interesting? Now, think about yourself. Scary, isn’t it?
